The RCMP’s bomb disposal unit had to get up extra early Thursday morning to blow up a suspected pipebomb.
At approximately 1 a.m., members from the Swift Current Municipal RCMP Detachment received a complaint of an item resembling a pipe bomb.
The scene was secured and the three suspicious items were in the middle of a parking lot, well away from any structures.
The explosive disposal unit assisted RCMP and as a precaution, destroyed the items at the scene. They are currently being examined.
Sniffer dogs also assisted in a search but no additional suspicious items were located in the area.
The investigation into the origin and nature of the suspicious items continues.
Swift Current RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in furthering this investigation.
