Despite the nearly 12 million people living with diabetes or prediabetes in Canada, the condition is too often misunderstood with over 30% of people living with diabetes hesitant to share their diagnosis, leading to guilt, embarrassment and isolation.
The Pump Couture Fashion Show is an inclusive and empowering event that aims to change the conversation around diabetes – with a goal of raising $100,000 to support D-Camps for children and youth living with type 1 diabetes.
The fashion show will feature real people living with diabetes modelling unique designs from local Canadian made designers, styled in fun and inventive ways to highlight (not hide) wearable technologies like insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors -- otherwise everyday reminders of living with a complex, chronic condition.
$100 ticket includes food and beverage, on-site activations and entertainment and seating at the fashion show.
